Top Packing Tips
Packing properly will help protect your belongings and make moving day quicker and more efficient. Here are a few simple tips from our experienced removals team.
📦 Use the Right Box
Use small removal boxes for heavier items such as books, files, tools and kitchenware. Their smaller size keeps the weight manageable and makes them safer to lift.
Use large removal boxes for lighter, bulkier items such as bedding, towels, cushions, toys and clothing.
🍽 Pack Kitchen Items Carefully
Wrap crockery, glasses and ornaments individually using packing paper.
When packing plates, stand them on their edge (vertically) rather than stacking them flat. This helps distribute pressure more evenly and greatly reduces the chance of breakages.
Fill any empty spaces in the box with packing paper to prevent items moving during transport.
📦 Tape Boxes Properly
Always seal both the top and the bottom of every box with strong packing tape before moving it.
🏷 Label Every Box
Using a permanent marker, clearly write:

This makes unloading much quicker and helps ensure boxes are placed in the correct room.
🖼 Pictures, Mirrors & Artwork
Small pictures that fit safely inside a removal box should be wrapped in bubble wrap and packed inside a box.
If an item is too large to fit into a box, don't worry—our team will professionally wrap and protect it on moving day using our specialist packing materials.
📺 TVs & Fragile Items
If you'd like extra protection, we can supply bubble wrap and use our specialist export bubble blanket on moving day for televisions, mirrors and other delicate items.
⚖ Don't Overfill Boxes
Keep each box to a sensible weight. If it's difficult for you to lift comfortably, it's probably too heavy.
💎 Keep Valuables With You
We recommend transporting important documents, passports, jewellery, medication, keys and valuables with you rather than packing them into the removal van.
